Surprisingly Natural: The Nature of the Bronx

Artist Statement

These photographs are part of a series shot in early Spring of 2008 in the most urban and southern/central regions of the Bronx. Both Crotona Park (which is divided by the Cross Bronx Expressway) and Memorial Park are located adjacent to large housing projects. This work explores the contrast of these natural areas in relation to dwelling, as well as areas within the parks that reflect the activities and practices of the residents who live nearby.
